Hi bot79, Movado is still underestimated. Zenith watches with the high beat Zenith 405/408 movements.
They are pretty expensive, because everybody regards Zenith as high beat pioneer. Nevertheless these movements are Movado designs, and you can have the 'original' from Movado for much less money. Anyway, your watch is likely 100% genuine, and what else should we regard as rarity, if not a high grade movement produced just 3 years.
Movado obviously issued serial numbers separately for each calibre, and I never read a number over 10,000 on any 260/261 movement. Simply hold it. It belongs to the tiny fraction of waches which will probably gain ts value. Regards, Roland Ranfft.

Need help trying to ID this baby. I bought it new 40 years ago. Inside case says '352 284 085' under Movado logo, which I assume is the model number.
Below that is '0001974' which I assume is the serial number. Black dial with no markings or the typical Movado lettering.
Only mark on the back is '14 K GOLD' with the Movado logo stamped next to it. Very small stamp.
A friend said it was rare, possibly built for the MOMA selection process in 1960. He said its an ETA mechanical movement modified to look like a Movado movement. Any help would be appreciated. Does it say 19 jewels on the movement? If it does it's probably the Movado calibre 1731.
The Movado calibre 1731 is based on the Zenith calibre 1731. If you bought it between 1972 and 1978 this is probably right. Since the caseback says 14k gold I guess we assume it's white gold. Don't think they would mark it gold if it was plated.
(who the heck plates things in white gold anyway? ) Is it valuable?

Are you sure this is the original movement or might it have been replaced? The calibre352 was made for Movado by Zenithfor the USA market. Zenith also made Movado's 357 calibre which was the 1730 with 17J and I suspect that is what is currently in your watch.
